Limnanthes douglasii ssp. rosea is commonly known as Pink Meadowfoam, a delightful California native wildflower recognized for its charming pink blossoms with soft white-pink centers. It thrives naturally in wet meadows, grassy areas, and along streams, predominantly in the coastal and inland valleys of northern and central California. Preferring moist, well-drained clay or loamy soils in full sun to partial shade, Pink Meadowfoam is ideal for seasonal wetlands, rain gardens, and native landscaping projects designed to attract pollinators. Its low-growing, bushy habit makes it an excellent ground cover or border plant. Flowers appear in profusion, typically measuring about 1 inch across, attracting bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects to the garden. Each flower produces nutlet-like seeds that are fairly large, rounded, and spiky, making them easy to handle and sow.
