Narrow Leaf Milkweed | Asclepias fascicularis

$5.00

Asclepias fascicularis is a hardy, drought-tolerant milkweed species known by its common name Narrow Leaf Milkweed. Native to California and found in a variety of open habitats, including grasslands, roadsides, and disturbed sites. This essential host plant is a cornerstone of monarch butterfly conservation efforts, providing both larval food and nectar for adult butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. Adapted to dry conditions, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, especially sandy or clay-loam types. Though slow to emerge, it rewards patience with graceful, slender leaves and clusters of soft pink to lavender flowers. Dies back in winter and re-emerges with spring warmth. A must-have for any wildlife-friendly California garden!
This herbaceous perennial typically reaches 2 to 4 feet in height. Narrow leaves grow in whorls along upright stems, and the summer-blooming flowers are lightly fragrant and beloved by beneficial insects. The seed pods that follow are long, slender, and filled with silky-tufted seeds ready to catch the breeze.
