Hansen’s Larkspur | Delphinium hansenii seeds

$5.00

Delphinium hansenii is a perennial wildflower known by the common names Hansen’s Larkspur, Eldorado Larkspur, and Hansen’s Delphinium. Endemic to California, it occurs across parts of the state from the southern Cascade Range through foothills, valleys, and dry mountain habitats toward the Mojave region. This is a graceful native larkspur with upright stems, deeply lobed leaves, and showy flower clusters in shades of white, pale blue, light pink, or soft bicolor tones.

In the garden, Hansen’s Larkspur is best treated as a cool-season native perennial for full sun to part shade, with well-drained soil and winter-to-spring moisture followed by drier summer conditions. It is a beautiful choice for native plant collectors, meadow edges, pollinator gardens, and naturalistic plantings where its airy flower spikes can rise above lower annuals. Like other delphiniums and larkspurs, seeds usually benefit from cool conditions or cold-moist stratification before germination. Fall sowing is recommended in mild California climates, allowing winter rains to provide the natural chill and moisture needed for spring growth.
