Lacy Phacelia | Phacelia tanacetifolia
Lacy Phacelia seeds.
Phacelia tanacetifolia, commonly known as lacy phacelia or tansy-leaf phacelia, is a fast-growing annual wildflower native to the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. Valued both for its beauty and ecological benefits, it produces finely divided, fern-like foliage and stunning clusters of pale lavender to bluish-purple, bell-shaped flowers arranged in tight, curled coils. Lacy phacelia is a favorite among pollinators—especially bees and hoverflies—and is widely used in habitat restoration, cover cropping, and organic gardening for its soil-building and erosion control qualities. It thrives in full sun and well-draining soils, and readily reseeds under the right conditions. Highly adaptable and drought-tolerant once established, it can also tolerate light frost. Best sown directly in fall or early spring.
