$5.00

Kellog's yampah is a fantastic addition to any garden. This heirloom variety of yampah, also known as Perideridia kelloggii is native to California and the Great Basin region of the USA. It is highly prized for its culinary and medicinal properties, making it a must-have for any herb or vegetable garden.
To grow Kellog's yampah you will need to provide a sunny location with well-drained soil, although the plants are capable of adapting to any soil conditions. The seeds require a cold stratification period of at least 4 weeks before planting. Mix the barely wet soil with the seeds and place in the zip lock bag in the fridge for 4 weeks, checking periodically for germination. Stratified seeds should germinate in 2-3 weeks. Alternatively the seeds can be sown outdoors as long as the weather stays in the low 40s F, allowing them to go through a natural cold stratification.
Kellog's yampah grows to a height of about 2-3 feet and produces clusters of delicate white flowers in late spring ot early summer. The leaves and stems of the plant have a pleasant, celery-like flavor that can be used in a variety of culinary dishes, including soups, stews and salads. In the garden the plant is an important food source for pollinators and is a larval food source for California Swallowtail Butterfly. This easy to grow plant will be a great addition to any garden!
~40 organically grown seeds per packet, open-pollinated, untreated, non-gmo.
